As many of you know, Scott got laid off on December 30th, so 2008 didn't end on a good note for us. His company was hit by the bad economy like many others and he had only been there a year. So now he has joined the ranks of the unemployed, like so many others at this time. Luckily, I had taken the job at the hospital and carry our medical insurance. The toughest part of the whole thing for me is the fact that he really loved the job and having to tell the kids about it. They are all old enough to worry about finances. We informed them that we have always been careful with our money and we wouldn't have to make too many changes in our lifestyle for the time being. We all know that Scott will get something soon. Having said that he spent a couple weeks putting together a website with his resume and portfolio of past work. His hope is to start a freelance business of his own. Obviously, he is also interested in a full-time position, but will also continue to pursue the freelance business for the future. We hope to not be burned again by the nature of the business.
