I Spoke too Soon!

As many of you know, Scott got laid off on December 30th, so 2008 didn't end on a good note for us. His company was hit by the bad economy like many others and he had only been there a year. So now he has joined the ranks of the unemployed, like so many others at this time. Luckily, I had taken the job at the hospital and carry our medical insurance. The toughest part of the whole thing for me is the fact that he really loved the job and having to tell the kids about it. They are all old enough to worry about finances. We informed them that we have always been careful with our money and we wouldn't have to make too many changes in our lifestyle for the time being. We all know that Scott will get something soon. Having said that he spent a couple weeks putting together a website with his resume and portfolio of past work. His hope is to start a freelance business of his own. Obviously, he is also interested in a full-time position, but will also continue to pursue the freelance business for the future. We hope to not be burned again by the nature of the business. Please check out his website, he did it all on his own. He has heard from a lot of people that it is very good, and I tend to agree. Please pass it along to anyone you think might be able to use his services or anyone that might be able to pass it along to others. He is open to doing freelance writing for anyone in the country and for any type of business.

Other than this snag in our lives, things are going fine. I have increased my hours at work for the time being, while Scott can help with the kids activities. The kids are all busy with school and activities. I've included a picture from the fall of the kids and Fred Bird. Enjoy!

2008 in a Nutshell

Hi everyone, 2008 was a good year for us. We got to see all of our family at one time or another and got to go on a few fun trips. The kids have kept us busy. Scott is still enjoying his job at the advertising agency and I went back to work part-time at a nearby hospital.

Stephanie is in 3rd grade this year and enjoying school. She played soccer again this fall. Although the team didn't win a game, she improved as a player. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing with our dog, and shopping. She turned 9, December 1st and got to celebrate in Chicago this year and also got her ears pierced, after many years of waiting and begging.

Brian is in 6th grade and at middle school this year. He has done a great job academically and socially. He was named student of the month for his 6th grade team in October. He played on the 6th grade football team this fall. He started as a linebacker on defense and also played running back and tight end on offense. They also didn't win a game, but he enjoyed playing and meeting new kids. His baseball team did very well in both leagues they were in. His primary position is 2nd base and he also plays pitcher and shortstop. He enjoys playing sports with friends, and running cross country. Last summer he began electric guitar lessons. Brian is #40 and he is on the right.

Daniel is 13 now and in 8th grade. He has one more year till high school. He continues with his piano lessons and performed this holiday season at a mall and church. He was confirmed in November in the Catholic Church and has joined the youth group. He continues to love playing on the computer and video games. He is now taller than me and catching up on Scott.

Our pets are all doing fine, Mr. Bubbles the fish, Kazooie the parakeet, Oscar the parrot and Hershey the dog. They all keep us entertained and busy.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FROM THE ST. LOUIS INGBERGS!
